THE DAVE MOORE AWARD
The Dave Moore Award will be presented annually to
the author of the most important work of literature on baseball from the
previous year. The "most important" baseball book shall be one
that uses baseball as a means to express our sense of who we are as a culture,
as a society, and as individual human beings. Books eligible for this award
are likely to come from the following categories of writing:
Because Dave Moore was unafraid of supporting unpopular
causes, and willing to embrace the underdog, particular
consideration will be given to emerging authors, especially those published
by the small press.
Nominations: |
Any book first published in 2008 may be
nominated. Authors or publishers should submit two copies of the book
to be considered. Proof copies are not recommended. |
Deadline: |
All submissions are due by November 15, 2008. |
Selection: |
Jury panel of three will decide between five finalists chosen by the
selection committee. |
Notification: |
The award winner will be announced on April 15th to the media, and
will be profiled in the spring issue of Elysian Fields Quarterly. |
